Spanish Club

This year Ms. Jaime Viera started a Spanish Club here at BPES on Mondays and Wednesdays.

From Ms. Viera:
My little Spanish Club is an idea that came from a desire to offer our students a little more than the standards that we have to teach. It's just a way to help students love learning in different ways. The way I see it, it's a win win for all.

Here are some of my varied intended effects:

-Fun extra curricular activity.
-We all come together to celebrate diversity and understand one another.
-Brain research suggests that learning a language at an early age has numerous positive effects on brain development.
-Help with community and parent involvement: I have 6 volunteers so far and more to come.

Some logistics:

**Over 70 students registered for the Club. There's 60 currently enrolled. The rest will be added to our Spring semester.
**I use hands on learning including "Task Based Learning", "WBT", and fun activities like beachball volleyball to practice greetings.
**Half of the lesson takes place in a classroom and the other half in the field.
